The critical safety gap: why traditional alarms fall short
Modern industrial safety systems rely heavily on physical alarm activation devices such as pull stations, push buttons, and emergency stop switches. These systems operate on the assumption that a worker encountering a hazardous situation will be physically capable of reaching and actuating the device. In practice, this assumption frequently fails. Industrial workplaces, such as petrochemical plants, often present scenarios where a worker may be incapacitated or unable to physically activate an alarm, leaving them vulnerable during critical moments.
